Iris Giclée prints by Bob Luby

Bob Luby, a full-time artist, spent the first half of his life as a Connecticut resident, and was educated at Paier College of Art as a commercial artist. He later became a technical illustrator, and then ultimately entered the world of fine art. He has earned recognition and respect both nationally and internationally, with his acquisition of numerous honors and awards.

Bob's paintings are in the permanent collections of Eastern Drillers & Manufacturing; American Insurance; First Interstate Bank; Superstition Mountain Historical Museum; Pinal County Museum, and The Little Gallery, to name a few. His works have toured the southwest with the Arizona Commission of the Arts, and have been included in invitational exhibits at the Arizona Museum for Youth; Casa Grande National Monument Museum; Galeria Mesa and The Roswell Museum & Art Center. His paintings have also been published in "New American Paintings" and "Artists of Arizona".

"I have been a commercial artist and technical illustrator for many years, entering the world of fine art was very exciting for me.

Realism and Trompe L'oeil painting reflects my past experience. My interests have led my still lifes toward many diverse subjects. Moving from the east to the southwest opened up my life to cultural diversity as well.

My technique of painting begins with a sketch of my ideas. From there, I scale the sketch to the working surface. Since my drawings are detailed, I apply a fixative to secure them as I progress into the painting process. My preferred medium is oil, but I also execute pastels. Improving my skills is an on-going quest, and my ultimate goal is two-fold. First to expand my knowledge and capabilities to their fullest potential; secondly, to provide the viewer with a 'comfort zone' - an escape from a hectic lifestyle to the serenity of a period or personal memory - a different reality."
